Biography

Jean-Luc Mare creates lightning devices. Each of his creations has its own unique characteristics. When he was working as an advertising graphic designer he started experimenting with paper, which soon became a marvelous and inseparable working companion. He uses two types of paper and two techniques to achieve two different visual appearances. Within the Millefeuille range for instance, Jean Luc enjoys the tearing off, creasing and gluing processes in order to give the paper lightness and an apparent fragility. His inspiration is coming from different sources, Nature, culinary art, or origami Japanese art for instance. He likes to play with volume, light, shade, transparency, or opacity, ... Jean-Luc aims at offering to his client surprise and satisfaction at the same time. This is made possible by bringing the creative process to its limits and paper to its maximum possibilities, in terms of balance and resistance, as if it were suspended in the air.
